A: Annually Elected Guild Council members + Annually Assigned Guild Representatives = Your Guild Board

2016 Guild Council

The Guild Council serves one-year terms, and may only serve up to two consecutive terms in a row at a time. Elections happen each March. Any Guildmember in good standing who is not otherwise barred from running, is allowed to run for office. The entire Guild membership votes on Council members each year.

2016 Guild Representatives

Producers Rep:

OPEN

Represents the interests and perspective of producers within the community. Must be aware of and active in the greater Portland Belly Dance and Middle Eastern related performance arts and it's needs. Knowledge of producing events and/or recordings including the financial, managerial, promoting and booking aspects are fundamental to this position.

Recruitment Rep:

Jennifer Guntner
Coordinates membership recruitment efforts, keeps recruitment momentum going. Makes sure we get the Guild mentioned at as many local shows as possible, ongoing.


Public Events Rep:

Stashia Cabral

Oversees research and management of the events that the Guild participates in/has a presence at. (parades, Fertile Grounds Fest, etc.) Not in charge of physically doing all the work, but in charge of making sure SOMEONE is doing it.



Community Engagements Rep:

Margaret Gustafson

Oversees big-picture management of the Community Engagements including haflas and related committees. Not in charge of physically doing all the work, but in charge of making sure SOMEONE is doing it to make sure Community Engagements happen, and are properly planned and advertised.


Pro Dancers Rep:

Claudia

Represents the interests and perspective of pro dancers within the community.

Website Design:

OPEN

Big-picture and visionary for website updates and content, makes sure the site remains relevant and content gets created and posted in a timely fashion. Not in charge of physically doing the contentwriting or tech updates, but in charge of making sure SOMEONE is doing it.

Students Rep:

Miriam
Represents the interests and perspective of students within the community. Advocates for the needs of students at Board meetings, such as suggesting ways in which students could gain performance experience or more well-rounded dance and cultural education

Artisans Rep:

Wendy Rover
Represents the interests and perspective of creators of bellydance related wares & props, or bellydance related services.

Musicians Rep:

Joumana

Represents the interests and perspective of musicians within the community.

Teachers Rep:

Niira Daniella
Represents the interests of teachers within the community.


Photographers Rep:

Guy Masson

Represents the interests and perspective of photographers within the community. Advocates for clarity and education between dancers and photographers, such as offering suggestions on how to improve visibility through quality images, and helping the Guild shape public guidelines for photographers on how to interface respectfully with the community and achieve the best results possible for all concerned.

Fine Arts Rep:

Emily Stuart

Represent the Guild as a liaison to the greater dance community by connecting at networking events, sharing upcoming event & performance opportunities, and assisting with creative partnerships.

The Portland Bellydance Guild is fiscally sponsored by the Marissa Mission, a  subset of the Present Time Dream Factory, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting the arts in Portland, OR.
